Transparency in Health Care Coverage Pricing

Consolidated Appropriations Act update for WPS self-funded groups

The Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) was signed into law in December 2020 along with the Transparency in Coverage (TiC) rule.

The goal of the TiC rule is to increase transparency in employee health benefit plans—making health care costs clear for plan participants so consumers can make informed decisions about their health care.

Transparency in Coverage Machine Readable Files Portal

WPS Powered by Auxiant™ has created a portal for our plan sponsors, PPOs, and PBMs, to host machine readable files that plans are required to provide publicly. This portal was built to facilitate the TiC rule mandated by federal law.

Federal Law fact sheet*

The files hosted in the portal contain in-network negotiated payment rates and historical out-of-network charges for covered items and services, including prescription drugs. All the files hosted here are in a machine readable file format.

With over 5,500 pages, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 is one of the longest bills ever passed by Congress*. The TiC rule is just one part of the bill, but it can still be a daunting task to fully understand and meet its standards.
WPS Powered by Auxiant™ is here to help self-funded groups save themselves the time and effort with our portal for plan sponsors.
